Embracing the Art of Doodling

Just keep doodling, doodling, doodling.

Navigating the Creative Job Market

It's no secret that the job market is a scary place right now, particularly for creatives. Feelings of discouragement and rejection can often overshadow our passion. Many artists find themselves in cycles of un-inspiration, made heavier by the limited opportunities available. It’s a tough season for many, where external pressures can dampen the creative spirit essential for both personal and professional growth.

Finding Solace in Creativity

During these trying times, I’ve discovered that the best remedy is to embrace what naturally shines within us and expand it. For me, that's doodling. This simple, spontaneous form of expression isn't just a way to pass time—it's therapeutic.

"There is something so freeing about putting pen to paper with no end in mind - just letting the creative wave take control."

It's a form of stream-of-consciousness art that allows me to channel anxiety and stress into something tangible. By letting go of the pressure to create something perfect or commercially viable, I allow my creativity to flow freely, often without a clear destination. This approach isn’t just liberating; it often leads to the most exhilarating artistic journeys.

Unintended Beauty from Happy Mistakes

The act of doodling, especially when done without specific expectations, often results in what I call ‘happy mistakes.’ These unexpected twists and turns in the creative process can lead to some of my best works. Whether it's on canvas, shoes, mugs, or home decor, I cover any surface I can with my typographic, intricate doodles. My advice to fellow creatives feeling stuck or uninspired is simple: just keep creating. Move your creative body, flex your mind, and let it roam free. You never know where this freedom might take you or what incredible artworks might emerge from these sessions of pure, unfiltered creativity.

For anyone feeling the weight of creative blocks or market pressures, remember that sometimes, the best way forward is to simply start somewhere—anywhere—and let your instincts guide you. Your greatest creations might just be waiting on the other side of your next doodle.
